ForwardNLP™ is a 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to making communication and comprehension more manageable for anyone struggling with the English language.

ForwardNLP was founded by Wyatt Lake, currently a high school senior at the Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California. Wyatt has worked with the USC Intelligence and Knowledge Discovery (INK) Lab at the Viterbi School of Engineering for the last two years. This lab specializes in natural language processing (NLP), which researches how AI models can most efficiently process human text. Working with a team at the USC INK Lab, Wyatt co-authored the paper KNIFE: Distilling Meta-Reasoning Knowledge with Free-Text Rationales on using human explanations to improve language models. He then presented this research at the 2023 International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) in Kigali, Rwanda, a leading machine learning conference and the first major AI conference in Africa.

With ForwardNLP and the TIER™ app, Wyatt seeks to use his experience in the field of NLP to increase the accessibility of English to a more diverse group of people, allowing them to benefit from the technology and expand their resources and opportunities.
